Brokeback Mountain

January 13th, 2006

OK. I have to be honest.

Whenever I hear the name “Brokeback Mountain” — the movie about the two gay cowboys — I always think it should be called “Poke Ass Mountain.”

C’mon. I know you’re thinking the same thing.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

Here’s a site that not only does Jive, but Swedish Chef, Valley Girl, and Pig Latin too.

Walk The Line

January 4th, 2006

The chronicles of country crooner Johnny Cash. Overall the story was not as interesting as the movie Ray, although I was extremely impressed by the vocal talents of both Joachin Phoenix as Johnny Cash and Reese Witherspoon as June Carter.

I think Phoenix did a superb job of getting into the mind of Johnny Cash, and it shows in the intensity of Phoenix’s eyes. However, I have to admit that I was distracted by Phoenix’s lip scar. Yeah, I tried to overlook it at first but with all the closeups it’s kinda hard not to think about it.

They could also have cut out about 30 minutes of the movie, as it tended to drag a lot in the beginning. I expect Phoenix will still get at least a nomination or two for his work.

March Of The Penguins

November 12th, 2005

This is a fantastic documentary about the mating cycle of the emperor penguin.

If you thought your life was tough, you gotta see this movie. I always thought of these penguins as being cute and easy going. Once you see this movie you’ll wonder why they’re not all viciously insane. Well, given their mating habits you might think that’s still true…

Full of pathos and a healthy dose of anthropomorphizing, this movie is a peng-winner.

I know. That was bad. *ouch*

The movie is still good. Go see it.

Free Annual Credit Report

October 26th, 2005

Just a reminder that you can get a free annual credit report here:

http://www.annualcreditreport.com

There are a lot of these “free” report sites although I think this is the only one that is endorsed by Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
